LIST OF COMPETITIONS | advanced search |
The Europan-France database portal is equipped with a search engine conceived by the researchers and technicians of the Laboratoire d’étude de l’architecture potentielle within the University of Montreal.
The portail allows the user to navigate the site by using the following tabs : « Sessions », « Countries », « Sites », and « Projects ». The « projects » tabs constitute a unique ensemble directly linked to a particular « Site », « Country » as well as « Session ».
During your first visit, we recommend that you explore the projects listed within the four principal tabs in order to obtain an overview of available information and documents: take particular note of the column “% doc”. Following this, you may conduct an “Advanced Search” which is generally more specific and precise, however you may opt for a “Simplified Search” as well.
Please note that the Europan France database is under permanent construction, consequently, a competition’s documentation will vary from one project to another. Thus, certain images may be missing from competition and project files when this information has not been provided from architects and archive centers. Documented site and project files provide access to slideshows of selected images. For every site and every project, the number of accessible documents is indicated under the key images.
The “Simplified Search” allows a search by keywords, by name and by year.
Le moteur de recherche considère aussi bien les mots entiers que les chaînes de caractères à l’intérieur d’un mot.
The search engine will take into account entire words as well as the order of characters within a word. For example, if you type the word “ville”, you will obtain results at the “session”, « country », « site » and “project” levels.
1. At the session level, you will be able to obtain the results by theme.
2. At the Country level, you will be able to obtrain the results via the names of the jury. It is important to note that each jury member is always linked to a particular session as well as country. In this example, the research indicates the name of Dominique Dehervillez, a french jury member for session 5 (1997).
3. At the Site level, you will be able to obtain the results which are relative to a site theme, or to projects which are linked to a particular location. In this example, the search will indicate The Site of Bordeaux to which the project titled « La ville de plus près » is linked.
4. At the Project level, you will be able to obtain the results concerning project titles and/or names of the competition members.
1 - 1- By clicking on the key image of the Site or Project on the initial pages of the Sites or Projects, which will in turn open a slideshow showing a list of available documents.
2 - 2- By opening the list of documents (downloading) and choosing the desired one.
PS. the “+” signs are used to indicate that there is additional information accessible by mouse-click. You will find general information as well as the “Documentation Percentage” regarding various Sessions, Countries, Sites and Projects here.
The “Documentation Percentage” for a given competition corresponds to the following scale:
A block of 25% is attributed for each of the following items:
- The competition’s programme
- General competition information (address, launch year, architectural category, competition calendar, list of competitors, etc.)
- A description of the competition
- A Press Review of the competition
A block of 25% is attributed for each of the following items:
- The presentation panels
- Sketches
- A summary of the project and the jury’s comments
- The design team
